Madeline Gardner Meryash, an award-winning artist from a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, grew up in a large artistic family. As the sixth of fourteen children, creativity and art were integral parts of her upbringing. Madeline began painting seriously in the late 1990s and has since dedicated herself to the craft. Despite being largely self-taught, she refined her skills under the guidance of classically trained artists at the Grand Central Atelier in New York City.

Madeline’s style is contemporary classical realism, and she primarily works with oils. Recently, she has been experimenting with painting on water-gilded panels, employing techniques from the Renaissance used for creating icon paintings. Her subject matter is diverse, drawing inspiration from everyday life. She enjoys painting en plein air, capturing the essence of landscapes and later creating larger oil paintings from her sketches.

Madeline’s commitment to her art is evident in her active participation in the art community. She is an award-winning member of the Salmagundi Club in New York City, an organization where she exhibits her work. Additionally, she is an elected artist member of both the Academic Artists Association and the American Artist’s Professional League. Over the years, Madeline has won different awards for her paintings, both regionally and nationally.

One of Madeline’s works is “Rune and Chase,” an oil painting on linen commissioned by the family of Chase. Chase, at the tender age of six, endured a severe infection known as FIRES, resulting in a traumatic brain injury that left him hospitalized for several months. This painting is a poignant depiction of Chase’s journey following his hospitalization, highlighting the profound bond between him and his dog, Rune. The image of a boy and his dog speaks volumes about love and companionship, capturing the essence of their relationship in a heartwarming and touching way.

Madeline’s approach to art is grounded in her ability to find beauty and inspiration in everyday moments. Her paintings reflect a keen observation of life, translating ordinary scenes into extraordinary works of art. This ability to see and portray the world around her with such depth and realism is a testament to her talent and dedication as an artist.

Despite the demands of a large family, Madeline’s artistic journey is marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a passion for her craft. Her paintings are not just visual representations but stories that capture the essence of her subjects. Whether it’s a serene landscape, a bustling city scene, or a touching portrait, each of her works carries a piece of her perspective and emotion.

Madeline’s artistic journey has been one of continuous growth and exploration. Her transition to using water-gilded panels is a reflection of her desire to experiment with different mediums and techniques.

As an artist, Madeline Gardner Meryash continues to inspire and captivate audiences with her work. Her paintings are a testament to her skill, dedication, and passion for art. Through her work, she invites viewers to see the world through her eyes, offering a glimpse into the beauty and complexity of everyday life.

As a member of various esteemed art organizations, she plays a role in fostering a sense of community and support among fellow artists. Her involvement in these organizations not only showcases her work but also provides a platform for her to share her knowledge and experiences with others.

In conclusion, Madeline Gardner Meryash is an artist whose work is a celebration of life and love. Her journey from a suburb in Boston to the heart of New York City’s art scene is a testament to her talent and perseverance. Through her contemporary classical realism, she captures the essence of her subjects, creating paintings that resonate with emotion and beauty.
